Non-Penetrating Roof Mounts

We now have both consumer and commercial non-penetrating roof mounts (NPRM) in stock. Pictured above are the consumer models with pyramid base and designed for our 8′, 10′ and 12′ antennas. The commercial models are designed for our 10′, 12′ and 13.5′ antennas.

Each modular tray measures 4′ x 2′ and weighs just over 100 lbs and can be assembled in either a  “T” or “I” layout. Each tray can hold up to 8 concrete blocks (consumer models) or 9 concrete blocks (commercial models). For structurally strong roofs, you can add a second level of concrete blocks to minimize the number of modular trays required. For weaker roof structures, we recommend using additional modular trays to spread out the load and take advantage of the principle of moments (i.e. Archimedes discovery of the lever)  to reduce the total ballast weight.

We recommend using 16″ x 8″ x 8″ (each weighs 36.5 lbs) concrete blocks as ballast which can be purchased for $1.61 from The Home Depot:

Anti-Interference (Wimax) LNB Products

We now carry a variety of anti-interference (Wimax) feeds for our C-band antennas. Terrestrial interference from a microwave tower will usually enter the feed system through the side and rear lobes.  For your reference, the radiation pattern of a parabolic antenna is shown above, and yes, although counter-intuitive, interference can also enter from the rear of the antenna. The wave guide of the feed (cylindrical part) does an excellent job of attenuating all frequencies below 3.4 GHz because it was designed with this cut-off frequency in mind. The diameter of the wave guide determines the cut-off frequency, meaning, a smaller diameter wave guide will have a higher cut-off frequency. Unfortunately, all unwanted signals above the cut-off frequency will enter the feed system and cause reception problems.

At the moment, the largest source of terrestrial interference for C-band operators is caused by wireless carriers transmitting between 3.4 – 3.6 GHz.  Symptoms of terrestrial interference include:

1. If you are less than 1 mile from the microwave tower, nearly all satellite transponders in the direction of the tower will be washed out. In the opposite direction of the tower, only one polarization (H or V) will be severely affected.

2. If you are less than 10 miles from the microwave tower, you will only experience interference on a few transponders and on only one or two satellites (in the direction of the tower), while the rest of the satellite signals will appear normal.

3. If you are more than 10 miles away from the microwave tower, it is unlikely that you will suffer from any interference.

The main symptom of terrestrial interference in all cases will be an SNR that jumps from a normal reading to something less. For example, if your antenna registers 12.0 dB in the absence of interference, then the SNR might jump between 12.0 and 10.0 dB for mild interference. For extreme interference, it will jump from 12.0 to 0.00 dB.

The solution to this interference problem is to incorporate a microstrip band pass filter in the LNB that passes only the frequencies 3.7 – 4.2 GHz and rejects all others. We now carry a variety of such feeds (single LNBF, dual LNBF and orthomode) with band pass filters to improve satellite reception and we will slowly be phasing out our stock of old feeds (3.4 – 4.2 GHz).

You can find the anti-interference feeds here:

There is no need to suffer from Wimax interference any longer!

Old School C-Band Orthomode Feeds back in Stock

C-Band orthomode feeds are now back in stock. These feeds are typically used by the cable head-ends to separate and simultaneously receive the V and H polarities. You can run the outputs to a switch and feed multiple receivers. You can also use this setup with a single receiver, but you will have to separate your channels into H and V polarities. This can be easily accomplished with the ZGemma 4K receiver which has a dual DVB-S2 tuner.

These orthomode feeds also come with “mini” LNBs which means they will fit under most feed covers (including the one sold with our antennas) and stay dry.

As usual, we have the lowest prices and will not be undersold!! :thumbsup

Arrival of 2018 Mesh Dish Models

I’ve been informed this morning that several containers full of mesh antennas have arrived in the port of Vancouver. They have been grounded and will be trucked to our warehouse in Ontario within 2 weeks. After that, all backorders will start shipping out. These are the latest designs (2018 models) and include 12′, 10′, 8′ and 6′ dish sizes and np roof mounts, pole adapters and tall poles. I will start emailing tracking numbers to everyone next week if you ordered these products, but keep in mind they will only track once they are actually dispatched from our warehouse.

We are still taking pre-orders on these antennas for a few more days. We sold more antennas than anticipated this winter (mostly to Florida and the Caribbean) and anticipate strong spring sales too. I ordered 25% more mesh dish stock for this year, but I can’t guarantee they will last to the end of the year. If they don’t last, hopefully I will have solid antennas in stock later in the year. But if your preference is mesh, then March/April/May is an excellent time of year to install these!

Thanks to everyone who supports us. Without you, the modern TVRO revolution would NOT be possible!

New TVRO Products (Early 2018)

We’re starting the new year off right with some new TVRO satellite products!!

We’ve just been informed by the factory that these new products have been shipped to us and include the following:

1. Heavy-duty, non-penetration roof mounts specifically designed for our 8-foot, 10-foot, 12-foot and 13.5-foot antennas. Many of you at small tv and radio stations (and industrial units) were asking for these because commercial solutions were prohibitively expensive. No need to break the bank anymore as our non-penetration mounts will be priced under $1,000 USD.

2. Pole adapters and extenders of all sizes. If you got a pole in the ground already but it won’t fit our antenna collars – no problem. Just ask us for the right pole adapter when you purchase an antenna and you will be good to go.

3. Tall poles. Need to install your antenna up the side of a tall building or house? No problem, we will be carrying an assortment of tall poles section and extenders to let you fabricate your own solution up to 30-ft high.

4. 7th generation antennas with stronger and longer collars, thicker gauge steel and multiple pre-drilled LNB strut holes on the panels for easy fine tuning. Moving the entire feed horn by just +/- 0.5 inches will allow you to alter the radiation pattern of your antenna giving you 1-2 dB more power than a simple blind installation.

We expect this shipment to arrive in two weeks and will be updating our website soon. For those who pre-ordered the 12-foot antennas, expect them to ship out in the beginning of February. We are still taking pre-orders, but probably only for one more week before we increase the price.

Now that we’ve got the basics out of the way – structurally sound antennas, poles, mounts and installation hardware – we are moving to the next phase of the tvro revolution: properly engineered controllers, multi-axis motorization and high-efficiency feeds (C, ku, ka – both linear and circular). We hope to get all of this stuff out this year.

Once again, thanks for your business and ongoing support. Without customers like you, I’m afraid the modern TVRO revolution could NOT have taken place and we’d all be stuck watching boring cable and small dish subscriptions!!

(7th Generation) 12′ Mesh Antenna Pre-Orders

Our 7th Generation, 12′ Mesh Antennas are arriving in late January. You can pre-order these antennas now for only $849 USD and save $150 USD. We expect to ship them out by Feb. 01, 2018. Thereafter, the new price will be $999 USD to reflect the extra fabrication costs.

Improvements are:

-Larger Arm
-Stronger Collar
-Thicker gauge steel
-All around nut welds
-Pre-drilled holes for the feed arms to allow fine adjustments and peaking.

You can pre-order at:
